Rishikesh C

Professor of Breath, Meditation, and Nervous-System Regulation, School of Integrative Health · Rishikesh, India

Rishikesh C trained where the contemplative traditions are living things, not museum pieces, and then spent years in the laboratories measuring what those traditions had stumbled onto: the baroreflex, the slow-breathing sweet spot, the way an extended exhale tilts the whole nervous system toward rest. She learned to honor the practices without believing everything claimed for them, and she became one of the people willing to say out loud that some famous breathing methods are backed by tiny studies and large marketing. She took the meditation adverse-effects research seriously when much of the wellness world preferred not to, and she folds it into everything she teaches, because she thinks a practice offered without its risks is not kindness but negligence dressed as calm. She came to IACS because the framework treats awareness as something that closes and settles, which is exactly what she has felt on the cushion and measured on the instruments. She teaches slowly and never pushes, and she is happiest when a frightened person discovers that their own exhale can reach the part of them that words cannot.
