Kerala C

Professor of Healing Traditions and the Honest Appraisal of Integrative Practice, School of Integrative Health · Kerala, India

Kerala C grew up between two worlds, a household steeped in Ayurvedic practice and a training in evidence-based medicine, and she spent years refusing to let either dismiss the other. She learned that traditions encode real observation and real error in the same breath, and that the respectful thing is not blanket belief or blanket scorn but patient testing. She became known for a rare kind of honesty: able to explain why a beloved remedy is placebo-level without contempt, and why a dismissed practice deserves another look, and why some popular natural products are genuinely dangerous with common medications. She took seriously the enormous global appetite for these approaches and the near-total absence of anyone willing to referee them kindly and rigorously at once. She came to IACS because the framework's account of the caring encounter, expectation and meaning as real forces, finally gave language to what she had always sensed sat underneath the traditions that work. She teaches as a bridge-builder, never a debunker, and she is happiest when a student learns to hold reverence and skepticism in the same hand without either one canceling the other.
